Harrison Drury’s corporate team has advised on a deal that has seen a Lancashire-based provider of mobility equipment acquired from its founders.
Husband and wife team Ian and Judith Gibson have bought the assets and property of Clitheroe-based Affordable Mobility Ltd from previous owners Iain Greenhalgh and Albert Lucas.
The business provides a wide range of mobility services, including stairlifts, mobility scooters, and wheelchairs, as well as home adaptations and other equipment to customers across the region.
It will continue to be based at its head office and showroom in York Street. Affordable Mobility’s four staff remain with the company while two new jobs have been created.
Ian, a former executive in the engineering sector, and Judith, a registered nurse, have lived in the Clitheroe area for over 20 years.
Ian said: “Judith and I are looking forward immensely to supporting our customers across the region and continuing to build on the great reputation for which Affordable Mobility has become known over the last 23 years.
“We’ve worked closely with the previous owners to ensure a smooth transition and that our customers get the same high levels of service, product knowledge and aftercare they are used to.”
Harrison Drury’s deal team was led by associate solicitor Jack Stephenson and senior associate solicitor Nicola Beneduce from the commercial property team. Solicitor Olivia Bailey provided advice on employment matters.
Jack Stephenson commented: “Affordable Mobility is a well-established name for mobility services in the Ribble Valley and beyond, having customers as far north as Carlisle and down to Stoke in the Midlands.
“This deal enables Iain and Albert to pass on the business after more than two decades of looking after customers who can be reassured it has a bright future under the stewardship of Ian and Judith.”
James Evans from Clitheroe-based Evans Accountants and Ian Thompstone from Cheetham Jackson independent financial advisors provided financial advice to Ian and Judith on the acquisition.
Founded in 1997, Affordable Mobility now serves thousands of customers across the region as well as working with the NHS in providing prescribed mobility equipment. It is an approved supplier and installer of Stannah stairlifts.
