Harrison Drury has appointed Rory O’Hare to head up its commercial team.

Rory, a specialist in commercial law and non-contentious intellectual property matters, joins us from Primas Law where he spent two years as partner and head of commercial. Prior to this, Rory spent over 12 years working as in-house counsel with global consumer brands such as New Balance and DreamWorks.

Based out of the Manchester office, he will support us to expand its commercial legal services across the UK and assist clients with a wide range of commercial matters, including manufacturing, supply and distribution agreements, software development and licensing, and endorsement and sponsorship arrangements.

Additionally, he will offer guidance to clients on IP rights, data protection, risk management, IP exploitation, and brand protection.

Mark Traynor, partner and head of the corporate team at Harrison Drury, said: “In the last 12 months we’ve enjoyed significant growth in both Manchester and across the wider firm. This has been made possible by recruiting top talent that can help us grow and diversify our offering and provide an exceptional service to our clients.

“Rory’s extensive expertise will be an invaluable resource to our clients, helping to protect their commercial interests and giving them valuable strategic support.  His experience will also play a key role in driving our ambitious growth plans in Manchester and beyond.”

Rory added: “Harrison Drury works with such a diverse range of clients from SMEs to multi-nationals and I saw this as a great opportunity for me to support those clients and add my expertise to an already impressive team at HD.

“I am passionate about helping clients grow their businesses, whether that be supporting them build strong relationships with their suppliers and customers, making the most of their intellectual property, or helping them manage risk. Harrison Drury offers an excellent platform from which to continue my work and alongside its exciting growth and award-winning culture, made joining an easy decision.”

The appointment comes after a period of rapid growth in staff numbers at our Manchester office, which opened in January 2024.
