Cumbria based lawyer, Jan Wright, has been appointed as a trustee to the governing board of Age UK South Lakeland.

Jan, director of Kendal law firm Harrison Drury, has previously served as a trustee for Age UK in Carlisle and Eden and has over 20 years of experience in private client matters.

Jan has a particular knowledge of the law as it affects elderly clients, including powers of attorney, mental capacity issues, court of protection matters and statutory wills.

Peter Smith, chair of the board at Age UK South Lakeland, said: “It’s really important to us that we have the right people on our board of trustees. Jan has the personal skills and the professional experience which will further our aims and objectives for the charity.”

Jan Wright, who lives in South Lakeland, added: “I have always been interested in elderly clients and how the law affects them. Becoming a trustee of the Age UK South Lakeland is a great opportunity to give back to an under valued sector of our community”

Age UK is the country’s largest charity dedicated to helping everyone make the most of later life through offering companionship, support or advice. They campaign to ensure everyone, regardless of age, has the same opportunities.

Jan is also a founder member of Solicitors for the Elderly and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) serving on their UK Practice Committee.
