New recruits strengthen Harrison Drury’s employment and corporate teams in Manchester
Harrison Drury has made two further appointments as it continues to grow its team in Manchester.
The firm has recruited senior employment law specialist Emma Butterworth as a partner while corporate solicitor Richard Williams-Bulkeley joins our corporate team.
Emma, who joins from Gateley, will help to establish and grow our employment team in Manchester.
She will also support clients on all employment law matters and has particular expertise in advising on large restructures, senior management exits and dealing with complex employment litigation involving discrimination and whistleblowing.
Emma said: “Harrison Drury is a firm already well known for its employment law offering across Lancashire and Cumbria. This is a great opportunity for me to help the firm grow a specialist employment and HR team in Manchester, supporting clients across the region and beyond.”
Richard, who joins from Butcher and Barlow, will support clients on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital transactions, as well as other areas of corporate law.
Richard said: “The opportunity to work with such a renowned corporate team, especially in establishing the firm in a new location, was a compelling one. I’m looking forward to supporting our clients and professional intermediaries in the region to help make deals happen.”

Rick Life, partner and head of our Manchester office, added: “It’s exciting to see our team in Manchester growing quickly and the positive response we have had from our clients and the professional market.
“We want to be able to offer clients a comprehensive legal service across all our core specialisms. Emma’s appointment enables us to add an experienced employment lawyer to our offering in Manchester. Meanwhile Richard brings further experience and capacity to our corporate team to support our transactional work.”
We recently announced the launch of our Manchester office, based at the Tootal Buildings in Oxford Road, in January after recruiting former TLT corporate lawyers Rick Life and Mark Traynor.
This was followed by the appointments of solicitors Jenny Potts and Roshni Valibhai and the appointment of experienced banking professional Sean Williams who joined as a consultant. We are looking to make further appointments in the coming weeks.
