James Robbins

Partner

Insolvency & Restructuring

James heads up Harrison Drury’s Insolvency and Restructuring team and he specialises in all aspects of corporate and personal insolvency. He is dual-qualified as a solicitor and insolvency practitioner, having successfully taken the Joint Insolvency Examination Board exams in 2014. He also gained Higher Rights of Audience in 2021 and is therefore able to conduct hearings in the higher courts.

James deals with a broad array of contentious and non-contentious insolvency-related issues on behalf of insolvency practitioners, directors, lenders and other parties affected by insolvency. In particular, he regularly advises insolvency practitioners and directors on the wide range of claims that arise in insolvency, such as for breaches of duty, transactions at an undervalue, preferences and wrongful and fraudulent trading.

He is also a member of the firm’s leisure and hospitality sector team and has an in-depth understating of how the sector operates. He has put this to use when advising a variety of businesses, from individual bars to large breweries and pub companies.

Outside of work you can find me…

Outside of work, James enjoys spending time with his young family, running with his dog, travelling and supporting Burnley FC.
