Pavement Licences

Placing furniture outside your premises can serve various purposes: from accommodating al fresco dining and utilising external spaces to enhancing kerb appeal by attracting customers outdoors. However, if that space is part of the public highway, obtaining a pavement licence becomes essential. This licence allows you to place furniture or similar items on land that doesn’t belong to you. Navigating this area can be complex, as different authorities have varying policies, rules and processes. In some instances, pavement licences are currently in a transitional period between two regimes.

Harrison Drury’s licensing team are well positioned to help. With extensive experience navigating the complexities of different authority’s rules, our pragmatic approach ensures that critical considerations, such as land ownership and storage of furniture when not in use, are not overlooked.
